Sparklescent Colors are pearl-popping, candy-looking transparent colors perfect for a stunning finish. Sparklescent Colors are made to get noticed. They’re an excellent graphic and mid-coat pearl finish color. When painting large panels, bike tanks & fenders, complete vehicles, apply Sparklescent Colors as a mid-coat over a color keyed AutoBorne Sealer. Compared to 4300 Series Pearlized Colors, Sparklescent Colors are more transparent, requiring more material to achieve full coverage. On average, 2 – 3 coats of a Sparklescent Color over a color-keyed base will achieve full color coverage; over a black or white base, more than 5 – 6 coats may be required. Apply Sparklescent Colors like a candy, in even coats avoiding build-up. Due to their transparency, Sparklescent Colors will show any uneven color-build-up / different values of the same hue if applied in uneven amounts, especially visible after gloss, clear top-coat applied. Compared with 4300 Series Pearlescent Colors which do not show uneven color-build-up and dry quicker due to higher solids content, Sparklescent Colors are more difficult to apply as base colors over large areas.
