The Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the liturgical prayers of the Church, and She imposes it on many of Her children. Prayer is the great duty of Man "We ought always to pray and not to faint" (Luke xviii. X). Prayesr of the Church is the most excellent of prayers:1) Because they are offered by the Spouse of Christ, and always exceedingly pleasing to Him because she is exceedingly loved by Him.2) This prayer is most excellent, if we consider the sentiment and the words used. This prayer has been given an exalted place within the Church, and those who recite it daily, and devoutly wear the Scapular of Mount Carmel have been promised to be taken from Purgatory to Heaven on the first Saturday after their death. This is called the Sabbatine Privilege, the text of which is included in this book.
