It is the original equipment vehicle of select BMW vehicles.</p><p>The tire offers exceptional all weather traction and road gripping ability in dry, wet and especially in winter weather. The 3D Variable Thickness Sipe Technology provides detailed siping design across the tread area, while the Helio compound features sunflower oil that provides additional edge and flexibility in wet and colder weather temperatures. The circumferential grooves avoid hydroplaning situations by eliminating water and slush from beneath the tire footprint. The combination of the 3D sipes, the special compound and hydroplaning resistance increases the year round driving safety.</p><p>The tire is a run flat model, which means that its reinforced sidewalls temporarily support the weight of the vehicle and passengers even after the loss of air pressure. The tire can be driven on for 50 miles up to the speed of 50 mph after a puncture or other kind of damage makes the tire lose its air pressure. In this manner the tire prevents the driver from being stranded on the side of the road when a flat occurs. These tires are made with a heavier construction, which is why they cannot be used together with regular tires. They are usually recommended for use on vehicles that have no space for spare tires.</p><p>The model is easy to control and has excellent cornering ability. The internal structure is reinforced with the BAZ or Branded At Zero Technology which stabilizes and enhances the tread area with spirally wrapped nylon cords. This improves the steering responsiveness and driving stability. The tire is resistant to the external driving pressure affecting it and it is quick and precise in its response to the driver's commands. The asymmetric tread pattern's outside shoulder design increases the cornering ability and power by providing additional biting edges in such situations. The upgraded controllability and cornering power allow the tire to be safety handled in all weather conditions.</p><p>Longer lasting usability and tread life are guaranteed with the Max Touch Construction. This technology improves the tire's road contact area and optimizes the tire footprint for maximized road contact, which equally spreads out the driving pressure across the tread area. The even distribution of the force of acceleration, cornering and braking boosts the length of the tread life and makes the tire usable for a longer period of time by preventing uneven wear along the tread area. As the tire is usable for a longer time, it becomes more cost-efficient.</p>
